High/Low Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps it around your body. It’s measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and is typically recorded with two numbers:

High/ Low Blood Pressure

Systolic Pressure: The higher number, measured when the heart beats and pumps blood into the arteries.

Diastolic Pressure: The lower number, measured when the heart is at rest between beats.

Treatments

Normal blood pressure is generally around 120/80 mmHg. Blood pressure that is consistently too high is referred to as hypertension, which can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. Conversely, blood pressure that is too low, known as hypotension, can also cause issues such as dizziness and fainting. Regular monitoring and managing blood pressure is important for maintaining overall cardiovascular health.

High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
Symptoms:

While hypertension often doesn’t cause symptoms until it has caused significant damage, some people may experience:

Headaches: Often severe and can occur in the morning.

Dizziness or Lightheadedness: A feeling of unsteadiness or vertigo.

Shortness of Breath: Difficulty breathing, especially during exertion.

Nosebleeds: Frequent or unexplained nosebleeds can be a sign.

Blurred Vision: Trouble seeing clearly or sudden vision changes.

Chest Pain: This can be a sign of more severe complications like heart disease.

Fatigue: Feeling unusually tired or weak.

Managing blood pressure naturally through naturopathy and holistic approaches often involves a combination of lifestyle changes, dietary adjustments, and natural remedies. While it’s essential to work with a healthcare provider for personalized advice and treatment, here are some common naturopathic strategies that may help support healthy blood pressure levels:

Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension) Symptoms:

Symptoms of low blood pressure can be more noticeable and might include:

Dizziness or Lightheadedness: Especially when standing up quickly from a sitting or lying position.

Fainting (Syncope): A sudden and brief loss of consciousness.

Blurred Vision: Difficulty seeing clearly.

Nausea: Feeling queasy or unwell.

Fatigue: Feeling unusually tired or weak.

Confusion: Difficulty concentrating or feeling disoriented.
