Job Summary
This position is responsible for monitoring program participants' compliance mandated by the court in community settings, including in the participants' homes and places of recreation. This work is performed with the latitude for independent judgment and initiative in resolving problems associated with program compliance.
Essential Functions

Monitors participants through scheduled and unscheduled contacts in the field, at the participants' home or in an office setting.
Maintains and submits detailed documentation on each contact in the form of a report to include, but not be limited to, the following: date, time, location, type, nature or purpose of the contact, and a narrative that describes the substance of the contact.
Ensures that constitutional and legal rights are protected during interaction with participants.
Participates in staff meetings and case reviews as part of the court team to ensure participants' compliance with all policies and procedures.
Attends court hearings or any other matter requiring the surveillance officer's presence. Performs alcohol and drug testing on participants in accordance with Accountability Court policy.
Participates in continuing education to fulfill job responsibilities.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures, operations and functions of the Juvenile Court.
Ability to organize, prepare and maintain an assortment of records, reports and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with supervisors, staff members, and participants.
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations. Mathematical ability to handle the required calculations.
Ability to utilize computer applications and techniques as needed.
Ability to plan, organize and/or prioritize daily assignments and work activities.
Ability to use audio-visual equipment and drafting tools in conducting case preparation work.
Has the ability to opeate a motor vehicle, surveillance equipment and mobile communications equipment.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office environment, client residences and community locations, and requires travel within the county and state.
Minimum Qualifications
1) High School diploma or equivalent.
2) Valid driver's license.
3) Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification required.
4) Two (2) years working experience within the law enforcement, investigative, or probation supervision field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
